Renowned neurosurgeon killed in car crash in Odesa

On the night of 16 to 17 January, renowned neurosurgeon Vlad Komarov was killed in a car accident in Odesa. He had saved hundreds of human lives in the zone of the anti-terrorist operation.

According to Komarov's friend Ruslan Forostyak, the doctor was rushing to an emergency surgery at the Odesa Regional Hospital. On one of the streets, he lost control of the vehicle, causing the doctor's Subaru to crash into a tree.

Vlad Komarov died in the ambulance.

"Только погиб в автокатастрофе по пути следования на работу талантливый нейрохирург, мой товарищ, Влад Комаров. (A talented neurosurgeon, my comrade, Vlad Komarov, was just killed in a car crash on his way to work.)

В самое тяжелое время добровольцем убыл в 61й мобильный госпиталь на восток, сотни спасенных и поставленных на ноги бойцов на его счету, сотни местных жителей. Иногда приезжал сам, на перекладных, на поезде, за свой счет, на сложные операции в Областную на пару дней и затем возвращался на восток.. (At the most difficult time, he volunteered to go to the 61st Mobile Hospital in the east. He has saved hundreds of fighters and put them back on their feet, as well as hundreds of local residents. Sometimes he would come himself, travelling by various means, by train, at his own expense, for complex surgeries at the Regional Hospital for a couple of days, and then return to the east.)

Нелепая гримаса судьбы, не брала его пуля и вражеский осколок, нашла его нелепая смерть, в родном городе по пути на операцию... (A ridiculous twist of fate; a bullet and an enemy shrapnel did not take him, but his ridiculous death was waiting for him, in his hometown, on the way to surgery...)
