Molody Theatre confirms Belous harassment allegations

During the discussion, several employees of the institution appealed to the Kyiv City State Administration, requesting that Andriy Belous be removed from his position as chief director.

At the theatre, where Belous is also accused of sexually harassing students of the Ivan Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Film and Television, staff members confirmed that they had been victims of harassment. These allegations came to light against the backdrop of a collective meeting held at the theatre. Video of this meeting was published on social media by Viktoriya Filonchuk.

During the meeting, one of the moderators addressed the staff with questions about who among them had become a victim of harassment: who had experienced humiliation, who had been subjected to inappropriate questions or demands for intimate photos, and who had been a victim of blackmail and pressure. Following this, nearly half of the people present in the hall stood up in confirmation.

Theatre actress Viktoriya Romashko stated on Instagram that part of the ensemble does not feel safe following the scandal and has appealed to the Kyiv City State Administration to have Belous removed. Meanwhile, another group of theatre staff is preparing to write a statement in his defence.

Actress Olena Uzlyuk expressed gratitude to colleagues who raised this issue, emphasising the importance of addressing difficult topics within the collective. She noted that transformation and openness reflect the times and expressed her support for young colleagues who have decided to speak out about problems previously considered taboo.
