Congress proposes allowing Trump to run for a third term

The US House of Representatives is discussing the possibility of amending the Constitution to allow President Donald Trump to run for a third term in the presidential election. The proposal was put forward by Republican congressman Andy Ogles.

Arguments for the initiative

Andy Ogles stated that Donald Trump is «единственной фигурой в современной истории, которая способна вернуть величие Америки» (the only figure in modern history capable of restoring America's greatness). According to him, the former president needs additional time to achieve this goal.

Age factor and recommendations

However, the initiative has faced criticism and scepticism, including regarding the age aspect. By the time of the next elections, Trump will already be 82 years old, which indicates his desire and the preservation of an active political base.

Critics also point out that such an amendment to the principles of rule-breaking is enshrined in the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which limits the president's tenure to two terms.
