Car of businessman explodes in Berdyansk

An explosion was heard in the centre of the resort town of Berdyansk today. The car of one of the local businessmen exploded. According to law enforcement officials who arrived at the scene, the likely cause was the explosion of a fire extinguisher located in the trunk of a Niva.

The owner of the vehicle called the 102 emergency dispatch centre himself, reporting that a loud bang had occurred in his car.

The car had been parked in the sun for a long time, and police officers suspect that the explosion occurred precisely for this reason, with the cylinder simply overheating.

The exact cause will be established by specialists from the Scientific Research Expert-Criminalistic Centre of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, who are conducting an investigation.
