Call to wear St George ribbons on Victory Day made in Berdyansk

Today, during a meeting of the public council in the city of Berdyansk, calls were made to wear St George ribbons on 9 May for Victory Day celebrations. According to activists, the statement was made with the approval of city mayor Alexei Anatolyevich Bakaev.

It is worth noting that St George ribbons are currently banned in many former Soviet countries, but it seems Berdyansk lives by its own rules, as evidenced by the recent scandal over the lease of Berdyansk Airport to Renat Akhmetov's team.

The uproar at the time derailed the oligarch's and city authorities' plans, but it is not ruled out that the issue will be revisited at the upcoming session.
