Another cable damaged in the Baltic Sea

The Swedish Ministry of Defence reported the discovery of damage to another undersea cable in the Baltic Sea, connecting Sweden, Lithuania, Germany and Finland. 

According to Reuters, preliminary responsibility for the incident is attributed to the Chinese vessel Yi Peng 3, which was anchored approximately 160 kilometres from the coast on 17 and 18 November.

Investigators suspect that this vessel may have deliberately damaged the cables. According to the investigators' version, the ship's captain may have acted under the influence of Russian intelligence services, giving the incident a potential geopolitical dimension. 

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
