Regrettably, the well-known song «В Багдаде все спокойно» ("Everything is calm in Baghdad") has lost its relevance at this point. Today, on 11 January, in Baghdad, unidentified armed men took hostage in al-Jawhara Mall shopping centre several dozen people.

At least seven people have been killed, and more than 20 others have sustained injuries of varying severity.

There is currently no information on which organisation the perpetrators belong to, nor on their demands.

Law enforcement officers are working at the scene.
