The scale of the problem
According to scientists cited by The Guardian, the number of victims of antimicrobial resistance could double by 2050. If urgent measures are not taken, the world will face a scenario where conventional drugs cease to effectively combat infections.
Especially vulnerable groups
Elderly people are at the greatest risk. Statistics show that their mortality from diseases caused by resistant microorganisms has increased by 80% since 1990.
