Trump intends to establish contact with Kim Jong Un

US President Donald Trump expressed his readiness to resume engagement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. In his view, he has been able to find common ground with the ruler of Pyongyang, which he considers a significant achievement.

This news was reported by CNN. During a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Trump emphasised that his ability to establish contact with Kim Jong Un is a significant asset for both the US and the world at large.

The US President added that Japan supports his approach to maintaining a communication channel with Pyongyang. Trump expressed confidence that if he can sustain relations not only with Kim Jong Un but also with other world leaders with whom difficulties arise, it would be of immense benefit to the entire world.

For his part, the Japanese Prime Minister noted that the decision to continue contacts with North Korea remains with the US. He underscored the importance of resolving issues with the DPRK, particularly regarding denuclearisation, which could substantially improve relations between the countries.
