Overthrow of Assad regime opens up prospects for Turkey

The overthrow of the Assad regime and the ongoing changes in Syria have created a unique "historic window of opportunity" for Turkey and the entire region.

These changes, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, open up prospects for creating a territory free from terrorist threats. This was reported by TRT Haber.

"The revolution in Syria has opened a historic opportunity for our country and the region. We are striving to realise our dream of a Turkey free from terror, using all the resources and tools available to the state," Erdogan emphasised during a meeting with governors at the presidential complex.

The President also noted that creating conditions for the peaceful return of Syrians to their homes is not only a humanitarian duty but also a strategic priority for ensuring stability in the region. 

At the same time, Erdogan assured that Turkey does not intend to force Syrian refugees to return, continuing to support those who wish to remain in the country.
