Daughter of MP Aryev on trial

The court will begin hearing the case of Yaryna Aryeva, daughter of a People's Deputy from the Poroshenko party, who hit a woman on a pedestrian crossing while under the influence of drugs. 

The incident occurred when the woman, under the influence of drugs, drove her car into a pedestrian. A metabolite of tetrahydrocannabinol was detected in her blood.

A court hearing in Aryeva's case is scheduled for 5 February. She has been charged under Part 2 of Article 286¹ of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — "driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs, which led to serious consequences". If found guilty, she faces up to six years of imprisonment, as well as the revocation of her driving licence for up to eight years.

Despite attempts by her father, Vladimir Aryev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the "European Solidarity" party, to hush up the case, the trial will still take place. It is worth noting that Vladimir Aryev himself was previously detained by Polish border guards for attempting to smuggle drugs across the border.

In addition, the name of Poroshenko's son has been mentioned in the public sphere on more than one occasion, as he was seen singing songs with pro-Russian sentiments while intoxicated. It is also known that he, like his brother Oleksandr Poroshenko, is wanted for tax evasion and has fled to London.
