Trial in Rudoy case dragged out

The trial in the Rudoy case is being dragged out. This is due to the actions of his defenders, who are actively challenging the decisions of the prosecution and the court. 

Initially, they expressed outrage over the summoning of a state defender, claiming that their client already has private lawyers. In addition, they pointed to a four-hour delay in the hearing.

The lawyers also filed a motion demanding the recusal of the prosecutors, accusing them of attempting to exclude them from the defence of Rudoy. They requested to review the protocol for the allocation of judges who are considering the motion to extend the detention.

Particular attention was drawn to the defence's motion for the recusal of the judge. The defenders insist that Rudoy sustained a serious injury, which prevents him from attending hearings and fully preparing his defence. 

In addition to this, they claim that he is not receiving adequate medical care in the pre-trial detention centre: shrapnel remains in his body, and a metal plate has been fixed in his arm.

The court hearing was adjourned until 16:00 on 31 January. Given the actions of the defenders, it is quite likely that the proceedings will continue to be delayed in the future.
