Famous Soviet actor and star of "The Prisoner of Zenda" Alexei Petrenko has died suddenly at the age of 79. The artist passed away in Russia, where he spent the majority of his life.

There is currently no information on the cause of death.

Alexei Petrenko was born on 26 March 1938 in Ukraine, in a small village in Chernihiv Oblast. He received his acting education at the Kharkiv Theatre Institute. He worked in Zaporizhzhia, then in Mariupol, after which he was invited to join the Leningrad Lendsoviet Theatre.

In total, Alexei Petrenko appeared in more than 80 films.
