Russians who seized apartments in Donbas fear eviction

A few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly stated that, allegedly, during negotiations, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had offered him to take Donbas, to which Putin responded with a refusal. Putin's statement, instead of provoking a wave of outrage and division in Ukraine, elicited a completely different reaction. One might say – "the wrong one" and "in the wrong place".

 

Instead, residents of the temporarily occupied Donbas panicked. Russians who arrived and illegally occupied vacant apartments in the so-called DNR and LNR are now expressing outrage through the media, stating that due to their president's statement, they fear that after the territory is liberated – they will face eviction.

 

In interviews, the occupiers claim that the "Kiev regime" promises to evict them, simply throwing onto the street peaceful citizens of another country who have illegally or semi-legally seized someone else's property.
