Relatives barred from viewing body of Kolesnikov who died in pre-trial detention

It was revealed on New Year's Eve that political prisoner Makar Kolesnikov died in the notorious Lukianivska pre-trial detention centre. According to medical staff, the young man died of haemorrhagic pancreatitis. Makar's relatives arrived at the morgue today to view the man's body, but encountered resistance.

В той же час працівник моргу, паталагонатом Богдан Юрченко який проводив розтин тіла Колеснікова поводить себе неадекватно. З сестрою і адвокатом Макара розмовляти і тим більше показувати його тіло не хоче. Натомість на присутніх журналістів та активістів Юрченко викликав поліцію. (At the same time, morgue staff member and pathologist Bohdan Yurchenko, who performed the autopsy on Kolesnikov's body, is behaving inappropriately. He refuses to speak with Makar's sister and lawyer, let alone show them his body. Instead, Yurchenko called the police on the journalists and activists present.)

Схоже, що Макара Колеснікова дійсно вбили і це ретельно приховується від громадськості бо нічим іншим таку неадекватну поведінку паталогоанатома Юрченка пояснити не можливо”, said Igor Mosiychuk, a member of the Radical Party.
