Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor Removed for Opening Cases Against Vilkul?!

A few days ago, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor Valery Romanov was removed from his post with a demotion, having served in the role for less than six months.  According to Ukrainian People's Deputy Vitaly Kupriy, Romanov was dismissed for beginning to investigate crimes of the Yanukovych regime, specifically those of Vilkul and Akhmetov.

Декілька днів тому з посади прокурора Дніпропетровської області був звільнений один з найкращих прокурорів сьогодення Валерій Романов. Генпрокурор понизив його а посаді і перевів працювати у Миколаївську область. Причиною тому явилась безпрецедентна рішучість і принциповість Романова у розслідувані злочинів режиму Януковича, а саме клану Ахметова-Вілкула. (A few days ago, one of the best prosecutors of today, Valery Romanov, was dismissed from the post of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Prosecutor. The Prosecutor General demoted him and transferred him to work in Mykolaiv Oblast. The reason was Romanov's unprecedented determination and principled stance in investigating the crimes of the Yanukovych regime, specifically the Akhmetov-Vilkul clan.)

Нагадаю, що в кінці грудня минулого року під тиском громадськості область залишив скандально відомий прокурор Роман Федик. Саме ця особа заблокувала розслідування резонансних злочинів проти учасників Євромайдану, а також покрила чисельні корупційні схеми команди Олександра Вілкула. (I remind you that at the end of December last year, the scandalously known prosecutor Roman Fedik left the oblast under public pressure. It was this individual who blocked the investigation of high-profile crimes against Euromaidan participants and also covered up numerous corruption schemes of Oleksandr Vilkul's team.)

Проте новий прокурор області Романов лише за 3 місяці своєї роботи спромігся відкрити і почати розслідувати біля десяти резонансних кримінальних справ, за якими вже арештовано заступника голови облради Науменка і екс-заступника губернатора Ботвінова. Ціла низка злочинців-регіоналів, які брали участь у розкраданні майна громади і займали високі посади в системі влади зараз знаходяться в розшуці. (However, the new Oblast Prosecutor Romanov managed to open and begin investigating nearly ten high-profile criminal cases in just three months of his work, resulting in the arrest of Deputy Head of the Oblast Council Naumenko and former Deputy Governor Botvinov. A whole series of criminal Party of Regions members who participated in the embezzlement of community property and held high positions in the power system are now on the run.)

Здавалось, навіщо в такий відповідальний момент знімати прокурора? Відповідь криється в тому, що Валерій Романов виявив чітку ієрархію злочинної організації, яка діяла за часів Януковича в Дніпропетровській області.  (It seemed, why remove the prosecutor at such a critical moment? The answer lies in the fact that Valery Romanov revealed the clear hierarchy of the criminal organisation that operated in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast during the Yanukovych era. 

Очолював банду Олександр Вілкул – голова обласної організації Партії регіонів. Саме він надавав вказівки екс-губернатору Колєснікову і голові облради Удоду як жорстоко треба розганяти Євромайдан. Без погодження з Вілкулом не відбувалось жодної махінації з бюджетними грошима та майном громади. Далі по сходинкам ієрархії Парті регіонів злочинні накази передавались в міста, селища і села. (
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the regional branch of the Party of Regions, led the gang. It was he who gave instructions to former Governor Kolesnikov and Head of the Oblast Council Udod on how brutally to disperse Euromaidan. No manipulation of budget funds or community property took place without Vilkul's approval. Further down the hierarchy of the Party of Regions, criminal orders were passed to cities, settlements, and villages.)

Масштаб виявленого Романовим злочину вражає. На виконання наказу генпрокуратури він намагався погодити з керівництвом відкриття кримінального провадження проти Вілкула за статтею 255 Кримінального кодексу, яка передбачає до 12 років тюрми. Проте за вказівкою Генпрокурора Шокіна його підлегла пані Пасічник таке погодження не дала. (The scale of the crime revealed by Romanov is shocking. In carrying out the Prosecutor General's order, he attempted to agree with the leadership to open a criminal case against Vilkul under Article 255 of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 12 years in prison. However, on the instruction of Prosecutor General Shokin, his subordinate Ms. Pasechnik did not give such approval.)

Вчора я отримав лист від заступника генпрокурора Олега Заліска, який посилається на те, що начебто мова про Вілкула, як організатора злочинів, взагалі ніде не йшла. Мене це вкрай обурило, оскільки я особисто був свідком цих подій, знаю позицію Романова і навіть писав відповідну скаргу, щоб добитися справедливості в цьому питанні. Проте замість того, щоб встати на сторону законності, ГПУ звільняє невгодного облпрокурора і фактично сприяє уникненню бандою Вілкула кримінальної відповідальності. (Yesterday, I received a letter from Deputy Prosecutor General Oleg Zalizko, who claims that there was apparently no talk anywhere of Vilkul as the organiser of crimes. This outraged me greatly, as I was personally a witness to these events, I know Romanov's position, and I even filed a corresponding complaint to seek justice in this matter. However, instead of standing on the side of legality, the Prosecutor General's Office dismisses the inconvenient Oblast Prosecutor and effectively facilitates Vilkul's gang avoiding criminal liability.)

Не зважаючи на ганебну позицію генпрокуратури, ми продовжуємо боротьбу за те, щоб в країні нарешті запанував принцип невідворотності покарання за вчинений злочин. Я впевнений в нашій спільній перемозі.

Хочется верить, что собранные уже экс-прокурором Днепропетровской области материалы не будут сложены "под сукно" или уничтожены и делу все таки дадут ход.
