Ontario raises electricity rates for the US

The Canadian province of Ontario has unexpectedly announced a price increase for electricity supplied to three US states, Bloomberg reports. The decision, which could place an additional burden on the US economy, has caused a stir on both sides of the border.

Ontario Premier: “Trump is to blame”

The head of the province, Doug Ford, stated that the measures taken were forced and aimed exclusively at protecting the interests of Canadian citizens. He emphasised, however, that the cause of the situation was the trade policy of US President Donald Trump.
