New tax for self-employed: who and how much will pay

Ukraine is developing a new bill that will affect everyone using online platforms as a source of income. According to the document, such individuals will be required to pay a 10% tax on their income. In particular, this applies to taxi drivers from Bolt, Uber, and Uklon services, Glovo couriers, OLX sellers, tutors, and landlords.

How the tax will be calculated

The bill provides for two mandatory payments: a 5% personal income tax and a 5% military levy. Thus, the total rate will be 10%. For example, if a Glovo courier earns 20,000 hryvnias a month, they will have to pay 2,000 hryvnias in taxes.

Economic impact on the state

According to experts, there are between 350,000 and 400,000 self-employed citizens in Ukraine. If the new law comes into force and all of them start paying taxes, the budget could receive up to 10 billion hryvnias a year.
