Gas utility officials detained on the spot for taking a bribe

Two gas utility officials were detained on the spot for taking a bribe by Ukraine's security service in Kyiv. The perpetrators were demanding 80,000 hryvnia from a resident of Vasylkiv district to connect his house to the gas network.

 

‪‎ «СБУ спільно з прокуратурою Київської області та міліцією затримали двох службовців газового господарства Васильківського району Київської області, які підозрюються у корупційній діяльності. (jointly with the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the police, detained two employees of the gas utility in Vasylkiv district of Kyiv region, who are suspected of corrupt activity.)

Встановлено, що один з керівників філії експлуатації газового господарства Васильківського району Київщини та його підлеглий вимагали 80 тисяч гривень від місцевого мешканця за підключення його будинку до газової мережі та не нарахування штрафу за неопломбований газовий лічильник. (It was established that one of the heads of the gas utility operations branch in Vasylkiv district of Kyiv region and his subordinate demanded 80,000 hryvnia from a local resident for connecting his house to the gas network and for not imposing a fine for an unsealed gas meter.)

22 травня ц.р. правоохоронці затримали зловмисників під час отримання хабара. (On 22 June this year, law enforcement officers detained the perpetrators while they were receiving the bribe.)

Тривають оперативно-слідчі дії, вирішується питання щодо обрання для службовців запобіжного заходу (Operational and investigative actions are ongoing, and the issue of selecting a preventive measure for the officials is being resolved)», - reports the press service of the SBU.
