Former regionalist who went into hiding stands in Chernihiv by-election

Controversy continues over the by-election to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which has flared up in the 205th constituency of Chernihiv. One of the candidates was recently suspected of embezzling 400 communal property assets and was forced to hide in the capital of neighbouring Russia.

Now, former “regionalist” Oleksandr Velychko is legally competing with other Chernihiv candidates.

The deputy’s righteous anger is easily explained: his colleague from the “Privat” group, Hennadiy Korban, is also running in this constituency.
