Moldova allocates gas to Transnistria

The Government of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, has decided to allocate Transnistria 3 million cubic metres of natural gas. 

This move forms part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies to all parts of the country, including territories that are temporarily outside the control of the central authorities.

As Recean noted, the decision is driven by the need to prevent a humanitarian crisis and meet the basic needs of the population in Transnistria. “This step is aimed at maintaining stability and ensuring that people can continue to live in conditions that do not pose a threat to their safety and well-being,” the Prime Minister stated.

The energy supply situation in the region remains tense, particularly ahead of the winter season. The move is expected to help avoid potential disruptions to local infrastructure and minimise risks for citizens.

At present, details regarding the mechanisms for gas delivery and distribution to end consumers have not been disclosed.
