Mass protests in Serbia: threat of a coup?

Serbia is once again seeing mass protests. More than half a million demonstrators took to the streets of Belgrade, demanding the immediate resignation of President Aleksandar Vučić. The mass actions engulfed the capital, signalling a potential political crisis in the country.

To contain the protesters, the Serbian Ministry of the Interior implemented security measures, surrounding the buildings of the presidential residence and parliament. Snipers were spotted on the roofs of strategically important facilities.
