Los Angeles wildfires: likely causes

More than 20 people have died and approximately 180,000 residents have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. This is reported by international media outlets BBC and CNN.

The causes of the fires remain a subject of debate. One of the main theories cited is the impact of climate change, which, according to a number of scientists, contributes to rising temperatures and an increase in dry periods. 

Other experts argue that human factors and insufficient funding for the fire service played an equally important role. In their view, timely investments in prevention could have significantly reduced the scale of the disaster.

Fire services, for their part, state that they had repeatedly warned authorities about potential risks and the need to strengthen fire safety measures. However, according to rescuers, officials dismissed the threat as the force of nature.

Political speculation was not absent either. Donald Trump Jr and Elon Musk expressed the opinion that part of the Los Angeles fire service resources had been directed to support Ukraine, which allegedly affected the reduction in the speed of response to local crises.

The large-scale disaster has once again drawn attention to the problems of natural resource management and emergency preparedness.
