Zelensky's motorcade involved in traffic accident with buses carrying children

An accident occurred in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, caused by the motorcade of Ukraine's President – Volodymyr Zelensky. The traffic accident involved buses transporting children returning from the seaside, as well as the passengers themselves.

Details of the incident

Several jeeps and a minivan, while attempting to overtake, collided with a convoy of buses transporting children returning from their holiday. One of the buses went off the road into the ditch. The children sustained injuries. One of the children suffered a severe head injury.

However, information regarding the children's condition is being suppressed. The accident only became known thanks to people who were travelling on the highway at the time. They photographed the aftermath of the crash and posted the images online. Subsequently, journalists and photographers arrived at the scene, who engage not only in professional painting photography, but also in documenting such situations. This allowed for high-quality images to be obtained and prevented the situation from being hushed up.

Only after this did a stir arise on social media and in the press. Journalists contacted the State Protection Service, where the information about the incident was confirmed. It emerged that the President had flown to Kyiv by plane. The vehicles of his motorcade were returning to the capital, their permanent base, after a business trip under their own power.

Unfortunately, this is not the only similar case. Such practices of overtaking or forcing "suspicious" vehicles off the highway were also employed during the Yanukovych era. The situation has not changed since then.

Cause of the traffic accident

The drivers exceeded the speed limit, resulting in the collision. According to a representative of the State Protection Service, the speed of the vehicles during the overtaking manoeuvre was 160 km/h.

One hopes that the situation will be thoroughly investigated, the guilty parties punished, and the children provided with the necessary medical and psychological assistance. Many are seriously alarmed. This applies particularly to the children who were in the bus that went off the road.

Parents also had to worry after learning about the accident by phone or through social media. Some rushed to travel to the scene of the incident on their own.
