Kyiv fuel stations hit by extortion from self-styled volunteers

Self-styled volunteers backed by the Regional State Administration have imposed a tribute on Kyiv fuel stations. Station managers are receiving letters demanding monthly fuel allocations, AutoMaidan Kyiv reported.

“Yesterday, while driving down Bohatyrska Street, I witnessed a scene straight out of a painting. Some cars with covered number plates were blocking one of the fuel stations.
They identified themselves as the Obolon Volunteer Coordination Council. One of the cars had a sticker saying 'Avtosotnia' (Car Hundred)
I started asking where these eagles had suddenly appeared from.
A letter appeared in my hands, which is being sent to fuel station managers with a demand! for the monthly fuel and lubricant needs from one fuel station!
It reminds one of the 90s, pure extortion.
Moreover, this is a direct discrediting of the volunteer movement, which is based on voluntary donations.
The scariest part is that all of this has been legitimised under the umbrella of the Obolon Regional State Administration
We ask fuel station managers who are facing pressure from the so-called Obolon Volunteer Coordination Council to contact AutoMaidan Kyiv”, - said one of the activists of Kyiv's AutoMaidan.

Information about shady operators extorting money from entrepreneurs under the guise of Maidan or ATO has been circulating for a long time; this fact is just further confirmation of that.
