Houthis release crew of seized vessel

The crew of the cargo ship Galaxy Leader, which was seized by the Houthis under the flag of the Bahamas off the coast of the Red Sea in 2023, has been released. Among the freed crew members were Ukrainian citizens.

According to the source, the release of the crew was a gesture in support of the ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas.

International crew composition

At the time of the seizure, the Galaxy Leader was operated by a crew of 25 people, including citizens of the Philippines, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and Mexico. They were all handed over to the authorities of Oman.
