Surgeon Alexander Danyliuk

СЛАВА ГЕРОЯМ ДЕБАЛЬЦЕВО!!!! (Glory to the heroes of Debaltsevo!!!!)

Today, I had an encounter with a remarkable individual in Artemivsk. His name is Alexander Danyliuk. He is a surgeon in one of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units that became famous for its withdrawal from Debaltsevo. 

His account and the photographs he showed me deeply impressed me as a surgeon with considerable experience. This young surgeon, together with his colleagues, successfully operated on 15 to 20 soldiers with various severe injuries in the intervals between repelling attacks, under continuous shelling, in the cramped conditions of a dugout with dim lighting from LED bulbs.

 I was particularly struck by a photo of an abdominal surgery involving the suturing of liver and intestinal ruptures, accompanied by autotransfusion using makeshift equipment. The surgeon and anaesthetist worked standing on their knees, hunched under the low wooden floor of the dugout!!!! 
Dr Danyliuk’s patient, like many others, survived and has already been on his feet. 

I respectfully take off my hat to my colleague. 
I wish him luck and success in his arduous profession.
