Kernes evacuated from courtroom

Kharkiv mayor was evacuated directly from the courtroom in Poltava today by special unit "Griffin" officers. Law enforcement allegedly resorted to such measures due to a threat to Hennadii Kernes' life.

This statement was made by the defendant's lawyer, Oleksandr Hunchenko.

A rally was organised outside the court by unidentified individuals. According to witnesses, some of the protesters were armed. The mayor's lawyers stated that their client was being pressured by the protesters, who threw eggs at Kernes as he arrived at the court building.

One egg hit the Kharkiv mayor on the head.

Citing a lack of space, "Griffin" officers attempted to prevent press representatives from entering the courtroom, which led to a confrontation between law enforcement officers and activists.

According to Anton Gerashchenko, the protest action outside the court is an ordinary staged performance.
