Elon Musk denies TikTok acquisition rumours

American billionaire Elon Musk recently made an official statement, dispelling rumours about a possible purchase of the popular TikTok app. 

Musk emphasised that he is not interested in acquiring this social network, despite repeated attempts by the US to ban the platform due to national security concerns. These concerns have sparked active discussions in the press; however, the news shared by the businessman clearly clarifies his position.

In an interview given at a conference in Germany, Musk stated categorically: “Я не делал запроса на приобретение TikTok. У меня нет никаких планов на случай, если бы у меня был TikTok” (I did not make a request to acquire TikTok. I have no plans in case I had TikTok). The entrepreneur’s comment, delivered via a video message, was published by the newspaper Die Welt. Thus, Musk decided to dispel all rumours and set the facts straight.

Interestingly, against the backdrop of his past experience of purchasing the social network Twitter in 2022, Musk noted that he himself never uses TikTok. In response to questions about a possible interest in the Chinese platform, the billionaire emphasised: “Я не пытаюсь приобрести TikTok” (I am not trying to acquire TikTok), clearly demonstrating his neutrality and lack of intention to expand his influence to other digital resources.

Furthermore, Musk, who, unlike many other businessmen, prefers to build companies from scratch, explained the Twitter purchase as an exception to the general rule. His decision, he said, was motivated by a desire to “preserve freedom of speech”, which also confirms his strategic approach to managing social networks.
