Germany prepares for war

Germany has begun preparations for a potential military conflict with Russia, Der Spiegel reports. The country is establishing a territorial defence force that, in the event of war, will carry out tasks to protect key infrastructure assets, such as ports, railway hubs, cargo transshipment points, pipelines, strategic roads, bridges, motorway junctions and digital networks.

In addition, the German Ministry of Defence is considering the possibility of reinstating mandatory conscription for all men for regular military service. This step is aimed at strengthening the country's defence capabilities and improving readiness for potential challenges.
