Gerashchenko refutes reports of patrol officers losing weapons

This morning, media outlets reported that within just 24 hours of the new patrol police service's operation, junior officers had lost two pistols and were involved in four traffic accidents. Reform opponents eagerly seized on the story, including the so-called “борец за справедливость” (justice fighter) and fervent supporter of the DNR and LNR, Tatyana Montyan.

However, the glee of the malcontents was premature, as it turned out the information was untrue.

“Information about the alleged loss of two pistols by new patrol police officers within 24 hours and involvement in four traffic accidents, including one where a patrol car crossed into the oncoming lane, is blatant lies spread by enemies of reforms in Ukraine and amplified with the support of an army of Putinist internet trolls.

On the contrary, Kyiv residents are pleased that they are now being addressed by polite young people whose task is to help and protect, not to rob and provide protection to criminals.

Before reposting messages about allegedly lost pistols and traffic accidents involving patrol police officers, pay attention to the identity of the authors of such messages, as well as the details of the incident provided.

If there are no details allowing this information to be verified, for example, the full name of a witness to the incident, the vehicle registration number, the address or location of the incident, it is an obvious fake launched by Ukraine's detractors.

When launching the project to reform the new patrol service, we were prepared for the fact that streams of lies and falsehoods would be poured onto it. That was the case in Georgia too.

But the result of implementing the reform exceeded all societal expectations.

The same will happen in Ukraine.
