Hennadiy Moskal appointed governor of Zakarpattia region

Following the tragic events of Saturday, 11 July, in Mukachevo, the president decided to replace the head of Zakarpattia region. Rumours that Hennadiy Moskal, head of the Luhansk military-civilian administration, could become governor emerged on the morning of 14 July. They were confirmed today.

According to Ihor Kononenko, deputy head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, an order appointing Hennadiy Moskal as head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration has already been issued. However, the order has not yet been published on the president's website.

This is not Moskal's first experience in this role; he previously headed Zakarpattia from 2001 to 2002. In addition, he is a native of the neighbouring Chernivtsi region.

It is worth noting that Hennadiy Moskal has successfully headed Luhansk region, specifically its unoccupied part, since September 2014.
