The European Commission may impose sanctions on social network X following a stream featuring Alice Weidel, leader of the far-right party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD).

The party has previously faced criticism for justifying Nazi crimes.

According to Politico, the EU is considering applying provisions of the Digital Services Act, which provides for fines of up to 6% of a company's global turnover or even the temporary blocking of the platform for actions that may threaten the integrity of elections in Germany.

The proposed measures against X are a reaction to concerns about the influence of far-right views on the political situation in Europe.
