European Parliament backs visa-free regime for Ukraine

On 21 January, the European Parliament supported granting Ukraine a visa-free regime. MPs adopted a resolution including a free trade area with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

In addition, the document contains recommendations regarding the inclusion of Ukraine in the list of countries whose citizens will have visa requirements waived.

The European Parliament assessed the efforts of the Ukrainian government in implementing the visa liberalisation action plan and congratulated them on the publication of the positive final report on the progress of implementing this plan.

If the country's leadership fulfils the remaining obligations regarding the fight against corruption in the first quarter of this year, EU member states will do everything to accelerate the process of granting Ukraine a visa-free regime.
