Former head of DMS in Ivano-Frankivsk region on trial for assault on journalists

The Dnipro district court in Kyiv held another hearing in the case of Serhiy Saiiv, former head of the State Migration Service (DMS) department in Ivano-Frankivsk region, who is accused of corruption and assault on journalists.

The court made several important decisions:

• video conferencing was permitted for the convenience of all participants in the proceedings;
• a live broadcast of the hearing was approved, allowing the public to follow the course of the trial.

New evidence and discussion of preventive measure

In addition, the court accepted new evidence submitted by the prosecution into the case file. A hearing on the motion to apply a personal undertaking as a preventive measure against Saiiv was also scheduled.

The next hearing in this case is scheduled for 13 March. The broadcast of the court proceedings will continue, ensuring maximum transparency of the trial.
