Firefighters lack foam to extinguish oil depot blaze

Since yesterday, firefighters have been desperately trying to extinguish the fire at an oil depot in Vasylkiv district near Kyiv using foam. However, it has emerged that rescuers simply do not have enough fire-fighting foam.

According to specialists, at least 100 tonnes of fire-fighting foam are required to fully extinguish the fire, but this substance is simply unavailable. It is currently being actively collected from the factory and all regions of Ukraine, but stocks are low.

Extinguishing the fire will take at least 30 hours, as the situation remains consistently severe at present.
