Treason case: Kherson MP may be released from pre-trial detention

Kherson MP Ilya Karamalikov, accused of treason, may leave the pre-trial detention centre. The court set bail at 9.8 million hryvnia. However, the politician’s family claims they do not have such an amount. Consequently, his son has announced a fundraising campaign.

Notably, in 2023, one of Karamalikov’s female colleagues in parliament had already provided him with a substantial sum of 1.3 million hryvnia.

Allegations of collaboration with occupiers

The investigation claims that Karamalikov actively collaborated with Russian military forces during the occupation of Kherson. According to the prosecution, he collected and transmitted data on pro-Ukrainian activists and military personnel, urged officials to cooperate with the occupiers, and even assisted the enemy in repairing equipment.
