UK eases visa policy for children

The UK government has made changes to its visa policy, simplifying entry conditions for Ukrainian children.

According to the press office of the UK Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, the new rules allow parents or legal guardians who already hold permission to stay in the country under any of the Ukrainian schemes to sponsor their child under the Homes for Ukraine initiative.

Under the updated terms, children whose parents or legal representatives act as sponsors will be eligible for a right to reside in the UK for a period of 18 months.

The ministry clarified that such children will have access to educational institutions, healthcare, social benefits, and employment opportunities in accordance with UK legislation.

The department emphasised that, in order to obtain a visa, both the child and the sponsoring parent must meet all the requirements of the Homes for Ukraine programme.
