Armenia intends to join the EU

Armenia has approved a bill to initiate the process of joining the European Union.

This comes after the President of Azerbaijan used harsh rhetoric, accusing Armenia of “fascism”. His statement read: “Фашизм в Армении должен быть уничтожен. Это сделает либо руководство страны, либо мы сами” (Fascism in Armenia must be destroyed. This will be done either by the country's leadership or by us ourselves). He also added that he considers independent Armenian statehood to be “inherently fascist”.

The situation is escalating, and the likelihood of conflict is increasing. As practice shows, attempts at EU integration are often met with resistance from Russia. 

In the case of Armenia, there is a high probability that Azerbaijan, with the support of Russia and Turkey, may attempt to stop the country using familiar methods.
