Seizure of assets belonging to billionaire Alexey Poroshenko

The assets of former MP and one of the country's wealthiest individuals, Alexey Poroshenko, have been seized. According to media reports, the reason is evasion of military service and failure to pay an administrative fine.

According to sources, the Pechersk District Territorial Recruitment Centre in Kyiv fined Poroshenko 25,500 hryvnia on 8 January for ignoring summonses. However, the fine was not paid, and on 28 January the State Executive Service issued a ruling for the compulsory recovery of 51,000 hryvnia, as well as the seizure of assets until full payment is made.

 Alexey Poroshenko, whose assets are valued at $1.2 billion, left the country before the war began and moved to London.
 Experts note that the state is demonstrating a principled stance by demanding compliance with the law and holding even influential citizens accountable.

Meanwhile, a petition drive demanding sanctions against Petro Poroshenko continues in the country. The authors of the initiative accuse him of treason, collaboration with Russia, and involvement in the creation of the Party of Regions. So far, 10,000 of the required 25,000 signatures have been collected.
