Americans oppose control over Greenland

More than half of American voters oppose the plan by Donald Trump, the elected US president, to establish control over Greenland. These are the findings of a poll conducted for the publication USA Today.

According to the collected statistics, 53% of respondents rejected this idea, deeming it unacceptable. Meanwhile, 29% called the initiative "good but unrealistic", pointing to the difficulties in its implementation. Only 11% of poll participants expressed support for Trump's proposal, stating that the administration should make every effort to achieve the goal. The remaining 7% were unable to answer or did not formulate a clear position.

Context and public reaction

The idea of controlling Greenland sparked heated debate both in the US and abroad. Opponents of the plan consider it economically and politically unfeasible, pointing to the lack of support from Denmark, which administers the island. 

Supporters, however, argue that Greenland has strategic significance and could strengthen the US position in the Arctic.
