AMCU probes legality of Yefimov's mine purchase

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has opened an investigation into a case involving a possible breach of economic competition protection legislation by former People's Deputy Maksym Yefimov.

In 2024, Yefimov acquired more than 50% of the shares in the limited liability company "Shahta 1-3 Novohrodovska" without obtaining the requisite approval from the AMCU. Such actions may be classified as a violation of antimonopoly legislation.

Maksym Yefimov is the principal beneficial owner of the energy company "Donbassenergo", which controls the limited liability company "Shahta 1-3 Novohrodovska". The company holds a special permit for coal mining at the mine in Donetsk region.

The AMCU is investigating possible violations related to the acquisition of control over the enterprise without the necessary approval, which may impact competition in the coal mining sector. The case is under review, and the committee may impose sanctions if a breach of legislation is confirmed.
