New destabilisation at oil infrastructure facilities

On the night of 14 October, a tank explosion was recorded at an oil loading terminal located at the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant in Rostov Oblast. At the time of the information release, the causes of this incident remain unknown.

According to monitoring channels, the incident occurred at a facility owned by the company “Yug Rusi”. Russian official authorities have not yet provided comments regarding the circumstances of the explosion.

Context of previous events

This case was a continuation of a series of incidents at this enterprise. On the night of 10 October, the oil loading terminal came under a drone attack. The result of that strike was a massive fire on the plant's territory.

It is worth noting that the previous drone strike occurred a few hours after US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the sale of Russian diesel fuel.
