During the international REPMUS 2026 exercises, led by the Portuguese Navy, the Ukrainian DELTA combat system underwent a comprehensive check for compliance with NATO requirements. Testing confirmed the platform's ability to effectively coordinate multi-domain strike and reconnaissance assets, particularly under complex communication conditions.

Integration of unmanned complexes under STANAG 4817 standard

A key achievement of Ukraine's participation in the exercises was the successful integration into DELTA of all assets transmitting telemetry in accordance with the NATO standard STANAG 4817. Air, surface, and underwater unmanned vehicles, as well as radar stations, were connected to the platform. This demonstrates the possibility of interaction between the Ukrainian combat system and allied equipment using standardised data exchange protocols.

Tasks of the Ukrainian delegation at REPMUS 2026

REPMUS (Robotic Experimentation and Prototyping with Maritime Unmanned Systems) is an annual international event considered the largest in scale in the field of practising the application of unmanned systems in maritime operations. Ukraine participated in these exercises for the third time. The delegation included military personnel from various branches and services of the armed forces, who used DELTA to coordinate actions.

Together with partners, Ukrainian specialists practised the following tactical elements:

  • conducting reconnaissance and monitoring of water areas;
  • manoeuvring and target escort;
  • modelling strikes.

In addition to practical exercises, the Ukrainian side shared combat experience in the application of unmanned technologies in the maritime domain. Partners tested how effectively maritime, air, and underwater complexes can operate as part of multinational groups.

Advantages of the DELTA platform compared to previous experience

The DELTA system was already used at the REPMUS 2025 exercises. At that time, it served as the main command and control tool for the joint team of participants, ensuring the integration of over 100 unmanned assets from different domains.

Based on the results of the current training cycle, specialists noted the uninterrupted operation of DELTA even with unstable communication. Particular attention was paid to the Vezha module, which provides video streaming. According to specialists, this function proved more convenient in operation compared to other similar platforms.

Strategic dimension of technological compatibility

Participation in REPMUS allows Ukrainian military to test their own developments in a multinational environment, exchange experience with allies, and improve interaction algorithms between different types of unmanned systems. Ukraine plans to continue developing the compatibility of its technological solutions with the forces of NATO member states, sharing combat experience in the use of UAVs. The successful testing of DELTA at REPMUS 2026 became another step in this direction.

Recall that earlier, the Ministry of Defence of Japan signed a contract for the purchase of Ukrainian interceptor drones from the company SkyFall. Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi emphasised the desire to obtain the drones as soon as possible and noted Ukraine's experience in the rapid improvement of defence technologies. The number of drones, the cost of the deal, delivery deadlines, and the specific model of the interceptor are not disclosed.
