Polish intelligence services urgently verify information on plot to assassinate Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz

Polish police received an alarming signal about the possible preparation of an assassination attempt. According to available information, the targets could have been Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The incident was reported by the publication Onet on 11 October. The source of the information was Karolina Galecka, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

Emergency coordination of actions

According to Galecka, Minister Marcin Kierwiński, together with the Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Semoniak, ordered the necessary measures to be taken in connection with the received information.

A meeting was scheduled for 11:00 on Sunday at the Anti-Terrorism Centre of the Internal Security Agency. Representatives of the police, the State Protection Service, and the Internal Security Agency were to participate in it.

Reaction of official figures

Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Coordinator of Special Services, confirmed the fact of the meeting in a comment to the Polish Press Agency (PAP). At the same time, he did not disclose details regarding the received signal and possible threats.

As of the time of publication, no arrests of suspects had been reported. Details of the possible planning of the assassination attempt were also not disclosed.

Currently, Polish services are continuing to verify the received data. No official confirmation that an assassination attempt was indeed being prepared has been provided as of the time of writing.
