Intercepted document reveals details of potential attack

The Russian Federation may be preparing a large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The New York Times reports this, citing an intercepted action plan.

According to the disclosed information, the strategy involves the use of up to 1,000 missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and aerial bombs. The targets of the strikes are to be energy sector facilities.

List of targeted facilities

The document contains a list of specific infrastructure objects that may suffer from Russian strikes. These include:

  • substations;
  • hydroelectric power plants;
  • thermal power plants;
  • boiler houses.

In addition, the plan envisages attacks on distribution hubs located near the Rivne, South Ukrainian, and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants.

Expected consequences for major cities

Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa are designated as the main targets of the operation. According to calculations embedded in the plan, the strikes are expected to reduce the volume of electricity and heating supplies in these cities by up to 90%.

Significant disruption to the operation of sewage systems in the specified settlements is also anticipated.
