Dismissal of tax authority head in Ternopil region

Olha Lishchynska has been dismissed from her position as head of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service in Ternopil Oblast. This change occurred against the backdrop of an investigation into a corruption case that sparked widespread public resonance.

People's Deputy Oleksii Honcharenko announced the fact of the dismissal. According to him, the decision was made after the relevant meeting was held.

Reaction to corruption scheme

In his statement, Oleksii Honcharenko noted that on 15 September, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) released information about the discovery of a corruption scheme in the activities of the tax service in Ternopil region.

«15 вересня НАБУ і САП повідомили про викриття корупційної схеми в ДПС Тернопільщини. Нагадаю, що я минулого тижня проводив засідання в Тернополі, де розглядав з бізнесом ситуацію з податковою. Бо питань у нас дуже багато. Але тоді пані Ліщинська не прийшла. А тепер її звільнено» ("On 15 September, NABU and SAP reported the exposure of a corruption scheme in the DST of Ternopil region. I remind you that last week I held a meeting in Ternopil, where I discussed the situation with the tax authority with the business community. Because we have a lot of questions. But then Ms Lishchynska did not come. And now she has been dismissed"), the deputy emphasised.

Context of the situation

Previously, following the publicity of the corruption scandal, Olha Lishchynska was invited to a meeting of the temporary investigative committee (TIC) headed by Oleksii Honcharenko. The meeting was to take place in Ternopil, but the official did not appear at the event. It was after this incident that her dismissal from the leadership position became known.
