Ukraine's defence sector is approaching the launch of systematic exports. The main criterion for starting sales to external markets remains the full satisfaction of the army's internal needs.

Priority — supplying the troops

Defence Minister Yevheniy Khmara, while speaking with journalists, emphasised that the ministry is actively working on creating high-quality infrastructure for the export of defence products. According to him, the unconditional priority is ensuring the needs of the Defence Forces.

«Експортуватися може продукція, яка є понад цієї потреби та не створює ризиків для забезпечення українського війська» (Products that exceed this need and do not create risks for the supply of the Ukrainian army can be exported), the minister explained.

Financial mechanism

The Defence Ministry is considering exports as an additional source of resources for supporting the defence sector. A mechanism is currently being developed under which part of the revenue obtained from external sales will be directed to the needs of the Defence Forces.
