Meloni: Italy is not obliged to unconditionally support US and EU decisions

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni emphasised that the status of an ally of the US and European states does not impose on Italy an obligation to automatically agree with every decision or demand made by them.

Rome's stance on partnership

The head of the Italian government underlined that the country should not unconditionally support the positions of Washington, the European Union, as well as France and Germany solely due to the existence of partner relations. Meloni stated directly that she does not share the approach whereby alliance is interpreted as blind execution of partners' will.
