Dmytro Lytvyn: Second day of talks with US did not take place due to prolonged meetings

The Ukrainian delegation, which had been in the United States to hold consultations with the American side, has begun its journey home. As Dmytro Lytvyn, the Ukrainian presidential adviser for communications, reported, the block of negotiations scheduled for the second day did not take place.

Reasons for the schedule change

According to Lytvyn, the second day of negotiations was not cancelled. The changes to the schedule were a result of the first day’s talks proving longer than expected.

«Не те щоб скасували, просто перший день виявився тривалішим і вже трохи з іншим присмаком» (It is not that they were cancelled, it is just that the first day turned out to be longer and with a slightly different flavour), the presidential adviser explained.

Future plans

Despite the second day of meetings not taking place, the parties are already preparing new contacts. They are expected to take place within the next few days. The exact format of these meetings is currently being coordinated.

One of the possible scenarios under discussion is holding a meeting in the format of the “coalition of the willing”. However, specific details of the future negotiations remain at the processing stage for now.
